"Mrs. Joan,
I’m saddened to hear that you’re gone! I remember there was this one day that I didn’t get to practice my music before my lesson, yet you forgave me and didn’t give me a hard time. Instead, you encouraged me with new pieces that you knew were more suited to my taste!
I also love being your birthday twin! You never failed to beat me in saying happy birthday first! I will cherish the valuable lessons and encouragement that you instilled in me.
Love,
Steven"

"Mrs. Joan,
You will be missed. The joy in music that you’ve introduced to me and my family lives on. Your nurturing character gave me an abundance of happiness for the rest of my life. I’m very proud to have had you as a friend and teacher during my childhood.
Love,
Christopher"

"I miss you Mrs. Joan!
From the age of 5, I excitedly ran into your studio every week until I graduated high school 13 years later. Even after that, you continued to make the effort to grab brunch or coffee with me when I was back in town. Not only was I eager to learn piano, but I was excited to tell you about my day, my family, my life.
You introduced me to the world of music, eventually encouraging me to pick up both the violin and harp later. You also taught me how much happiness and fulfillment that music would bring to my life. The lessons I am so lucky to have learned from you have applied to my life outside the studio too. I’m so thankful to have had you in my life and grateful for the memories that I will cherish forever.
Rest easy Mrs. Joan!
Love,
MiMi"

My dear friend Joan,
I still can’t wrap my head around that I can’t text you, receive your text, or hangout with you anymore!
You were there for me when I lost my mom 10 years ago, and there was not a day that I don’t think about my mom. It was a difficult time for me, yet you texted to check in on me and lifted my spirit up when needed. ❤️
Almost every time our family gets together, the kids mentioned you, telling us what happened at each lesson… one time it was raining and thundering during their lesson, you offered MiMi to sit on your lap and hold her, because she was afraid of the storm. She will never forget that precious moment! 💕
You not only taught Steven, Christopher & MiMi your talented musical skill but you left them with valuable and memorable life stories ❤️
You were a beautiful, loving, and caring person! We will cherished all those wonderful memories and miss you dearly, Joan ❤️
Love,
Lynn"
